Needs Assessment at Igan Okoto
To the amazing team that made it happen, thank you 🙌 👏 ❤️ To aid community mobilisation for the needs assessment, we worked closely with one of the community's influential indigenes. He also helped to recruit some of the volunteers that support the event 👏 👍 👌 😉

Needs Assessment at Igan Okoto
our Executive Director, Dr Fatimah Odusote, with the Traditional ruler of the town and the sponsor of the needs assessment, Alhaji Hassan Odewale, together with his wife 🥰🥰🥰🥰 The Traditional Ruler was very accommodating, down-to-earth and displayed highly impressive humility! 😇😇😇. He spoke genuinely, without holding back, about relevant information that could enhance our work in the community 😊😊. And he is quite sharp-witted too 🫡🫡🫡🫅🫅🫅 #funfact Igan Okoto (under the Yewa North Local Govt Area) is one of the towns that shares a border with the Benin Republic. The health needs assessment was a two-day activity. On day one, we interacted with the adolescents and visited the health centre in the community to know firsthand from the health workers, other health issues and challenges prevalent in Igan Okoto 💓💓

Day 2 of the needs assessment. The parents/guardians were quite receptive and willing to share useful information to further guide our assessment 😇😇😇🤗🤗. The turn out was awesome (even more than the number we initially targeted). This for us means alot and shows how invested they are to ensure improved wellbeing of their children 🫂🫂🫂💞💞💞

Needs Assessment at Igan Okoto
We witnessed something powerful in Igan Okoto! On Dec 17–18, 2025, the Centre for Adolescent Health and Social Development conducted a Health Needs Assessment — a simple but meaningful process of listening to people about their real health challenges and needs. Our adolescents, their parents and the traditional leader spoke with honesty, courage, and hope. We heard real stories, saw bright ideas, and felt the unity of a community ready to grow. This was more than data — it was connection, pride, and a reminder that listening creates room for real change. Thank you to every adolescent, parent, and community leader who made this possible. We’re excited for what comes next.
